LAOAG CITY – In Ilocos region, the province of Ilocos Norte had the ‘most peaceful’ conduct of the May 9 elections, according to Governor Imee R. Marcos.
Recently, Marcos lauded the ranking officials of the Ilocos Norte police office for their outstanding performance in ensuring a secure, safe and fair conduct of the national and local polls and for achieving a zero shooting incident in the province during the election period.
“It is the first in the history of Ilocos Norte that not a single shooting incident occurred and it is the most peaceful election ever recorded,” said Marcos.
To give due recognition to the lawmen, Marcos and Senior Supt. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the acting Ilocos Norte police provincial director, handed over to 12 ranking police officials and 23 chiefs of police of the cities and towns in the province their certificates of recognition and cash incentives through a simple rite held recently at the Plaza Del Norte Convention Center, Laoag City.
Meanwhile, Marcos added also urged local officials to remain true to their commitment in government service, while emphasizing that peace and order is essential to overall development. (JNPD/FGL/PIA-1 Ilocos Norte with reports from the Communication and Media Office of Ilocos Norte capitol)
