Tagaytay City, Cavite – The group behind a mentoring program on rabies prevention has opened a free online course on Rabies Educator Certificate (REC).
The Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC), which sponsored the on-going Communicating Health Advocacy Mentoring Program (CHAMP) in this city, said the course will aid community educators and health workers in conducting community awareness events that help increase the effectiveness of rabies prevention education.
“The myths and ignorance that surround rabies are costing lives,” says GARC Executive Director, Professor Louis Nel.
“The REC arms educators in at-risk communities with the facts to prevent rabies and provides credibility and strength to their message. As we increase our efforts to set up regional rabies prevention networks to support national governments, the REC is one of the tools that will be used to help them eliminate rabies deaths in their countries,” he added.
With the online course, participants can work at their own pace and get certificate on completion of a final assessment.
The course can be accessed at education.rabiesalliance.org. For more information about the Rabies Educator Certificate, regional rabies networks and other GARC programs, interested enrolless may email firstname.lastname@example.org. (MCA/ICR/PIA1 Ilocos Sur)
