SAN FERNANDO CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority leads the celebration of the Civil Registration Month.
Pursuant to Proclamation 682 issued on January 28, 1991 and signed by then president Corazon C. Aquino, February of every year has been observed as the Civil Registration Month.
This year’s theme, “Sama Ka sa CRVS Groupie” (CRVS stands for Civil Registration and Vital Statistics), is about birth, marriage, death certificates including a person’s legal identity, civil status and right to be recognized as citizen of a state.
According to PSA1 Director Socrates L. Ramores, the agency’s goal is to have every Filipino register the vital events of their life including births, marriage, and deaths and other acts concerning their status.
“In line with the celebration, various activities are going to be conducted nationwide, from the municipality to the region, as part of the advocacy and campaign to create greater awareness of the importance of CRVS,” said Ramores.
In the region, information dissemination activities include hanging of streamers in all PSA offices, conducting a stakeholder’s forum on civil registration, slogan making contest and training on civil registration for PSA personnel.
“We coordinate closely with all Provincial Statistical Offices in collaboration with all the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) in all cities and municipalities in region one to ensure this celebration is widely disseminated,” Ramores said.
PSA also calls for active participation of the public, various stakeholders and partner agencies, to actively participate in said activities slated for this year’s Civil Registration Month celebration.
