DAGUPAN CITY– Some 200 business professionals and information technology (IT) practitioners from north-central Luzon attended the “GDayX” seminar held last week at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen town.
Vangie Padilla of Google Business Groups (GBG)-Pangasinan said GDayX is a community-organized event that is supported by Google, following the format inspired by Google GDays (where X stands for the community).
The event aims to share technological knowledge on Google products that people can use to improve their career and to enhance their means of communication with their loved ones here and abroad, said Padilla.
“Google products are free online and readily available on the internet, so whether you’re in business, academe, government, IT industry, or simply a lover of technology, this event would help you learn more about Google applications, getting your business online and other Google products that you can definitely use in your field,” she added.
The program started with a keynote from Mohd Hadi Shafie Othman, Google’s head for communities in Southeast Asia, who flew in from Singapore for this event.
Topics discussed by the respective resource speakers included: Sustain Your Online Presence (Vangie Padilla); Maps and Local for Your Business (JR Padilla); Google in Education (Jerome Locson); Pangasinan’s Digital Journey (Rafael Howard Baraan); Communities and Your Business (Marcus Foon); and Collaborate Like a Pro (Therence John Resabal).
“We are now in an era of internet and the social media, so even ordinary citizens have to know how to use technology that allows people to connect to others with ease and make many tasks so much easier,” said Padilla.
“Mapag-iiwanan tayo ng panahon kung hindi tayo marunong gumamit ng teknolohiya,” she said.
Piloted by host Google Business Group (GBG)-Dagupan and the newest chapter (incubation) GBG-Pangasinan, GDayX Central Luzon has connected, informed and inspired the local audience. (MCA/AMM/PIA-1, Pangasinan)
