VIGAN CITY, May 3 (PIA) — The Philippine Information Agency here has launched a public forum which will serve as a platform for the community to exchange information and ideas on subjects affecting them.
Called “PIA sa Barangay,” the forum was launched last April 24 in time for the feast of Barangay Cabalangegan here April 24-27.
The forum, which dwelt on rabies prevention, provided residents a venue for public issues to be discussed and, in the process, help them make wise decisions in their everyday lives.
Barangay chair Danilo Tongson provided support to the PIA forum by disseminating the event to his residents.
Liborio Arca, the city veterinarian, was invited to discuss various points on how the community can protect itself from dog bites and the rabies virus.
Maria Nila Argel, PIA-Ilocos Sur manager, provided the preliminary talks by presenting the Agency’s vision and mission.
Speaking before more than a hundred residents, Argel emphasized the community’s duty to get enough information on rabies prevention.
She noted that the barangay fiesta often attracts young children who are frequent victims of dog bites from stray dogs. (MCA/ICR-PIA1 Ilocos Sur)
