Ilocos provinces get DILG subsidy for good housekeeping

SAN FERNANDO CITY, May 3 (PIA) — Four Ilocos provinces are assured of funding for local development projects coming from their reward for complying with the Seal of Good Housekeeping.

The Department of Interior and Local Government in the Ilocos said at least P28 million have been released to the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan to support their development plan.

Lily Ann O. Colisao, DILG information officer, said each province received P7 million in “performance challenge funds” to finance specific projects namely tourism, economic development, disaster and solid waste management.

To date, four provinces, nine cities and 105 municipalities have received P162 million in subsidy since the DILG program was first implemented in 2010, Colisao said.

Of the local government units, the towns of Alilem in Ilocos Sur and Santol in La Union were each granted P1 million twice for qualifying in the national level. (MCA/MPA/PIA1 La Union)
