DAGUPAN CITY, April 23 (PIA) — The Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards will launch the prestigious competition for the best agriculture stories and photos on Wednesday, April 24 in Dagupan City.
David Isaac Buenaventura, project manager, said the Bright Leaf awards selects the most important agriculture stories and photos of the year and honors the journalists behind them.
The launching aims to draw participation from media practitioners based in Pangasinan.
It also aims to raise awareness for agriculture, cultivate excellence and enthusiasm in agricultural journalism and sustain widespread interest and kindred partnerships, he said.
Categories for the competition include: Agriculture Story of the Year, Tobacco Story of the Year, Best Television Program or Segment, Best Radio Program or Segment, Agriculture Photo of the Year, Tobacco Photo of the Year, Best Regional News story, Best National News Story, Best Regional Feature News Story and Best National Feature Story.
The awards secretariat will accept entries until August 31 this year.
Since 2007, the Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards has been honoring outstanding journalists and photographers in the country for their reportage on the agriculture and tobacco industries. (MCA/VHS-PIA1-Pangasinan)
