SAN FERNANDO CITY, April 22 (PIA) – Two suspected drug pushers were arrested in buy-bust operation by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Barangay Masupe in Balaoan town early this month.
Bismarck Bengwayan, PDEA information officer, said the suspects were caught allegedly in the act of selling 30 kilos of high-grade marijuana amounting to P750,500.
Bengwayan said the suspects were arrested after they handed to a poseur buyer a box of suspected marijuana in exchange for money.
Policemen and PDEA operatives had been in place and had cordoned the area before the transaction began.
PDEA Regional Director Jeoffrey C. Tacio said the arrest had brought to four the total number of arrested persons suspected to be involved in marijuana selling within a month of PDEA operations.
The suspects face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs law with an imposable penalty of life imprisonment. (MCA/MPA/PIA1 La Union)
