LAOAG CITY, April 11 (PIA) — The provincial government sees the need to invest on prospective employees to boost their employability by giving them an opportunity to attend a “resume clinic”.
Beginning today, job seekers are going through a two-day “resume clinic” to arm them of basic job application skills, preparation of the application letters, and how to respond well to interviews.
Eric Pascua of the Public Employment Service Office of Ilocos Norte said that the seminar provides applicants personality development tips and the do’s and don’ts during job interviews.
Over 200 job seekers were expected to attend the seminar under the provincial government’s Task Force Trabaho (TFT).
“We will provide them with an all-rounded improvement, from resume making, proper wardrobe in job application up to Q and A session,” Pascua said.
The event is a precursor to the upcoming summer job fair that the provincial government and the City of Laoag will hold jointly on April 18.
“Each participant will be provided with a computer set for the resume making so that they will have a ready-made letter during the job fair,” Pascua added.
“The resume is where the employer gets his first impression,” he said.
Pascua noted common mistakes that a seeker commits in preparing his application letter including the use of non-standard photos.
“Some would even use their Facebook photos which reduce the applicant’s sincerity and professionalism,” he said.
Ilocos Norte continues to provide opportunities to Ilocanos under TFT which was launched on 2012.
The task force has committed to generate 5,000 quality jobs more this year including 20,000 on-the-job, part-time, student and home-based employment. (MCA/CJDG- PIA1, Ilocos Norte)#
