SAN GABRIEL, La Union, Apr 3 (PIA) – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Ilocos seized more than P300,000-worth of marijuana in a buy-bust operation on a mountainous area in Barangay Lipa here last month.
Bismarck Bengwayan, PDEA public information, said combined elements of PDEA and the Philippine National Police also arrested Mario Tad-o and Romeo Tukiad, residents of Santol, La Union while selling marijuana bricks to secret agents.
Authorities also seized a 38 .cal pistol and a cellular phone allegedly used in the illegal drug trade.
Bengwayan said that both suspects had been detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
The suspects face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 which is punishable by life time imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million, he said. (MCA/MPA-PIA1, La Union with data from PDEA1-PIO)
