PANGASINAN, February 11 (PIA) – Pangasinan folks are again in search for homegrown men and women who brought pride and selfless dedication to the province.
Locals who will meet the requirements will be given the recognition in this year’s Asna (local term for salt) Awards.
The annual search was first launched on April 5, 2010 as one of the highlights of Pangasinan’s 430th foundation anniversary.
It is the most selective and prestigious awards body in the province that gives due recognition and public attention to outstanding Pangasinenses whose selfless dedication to their profession or vocation has resulted in outstanding contributions to the welfare of the people in Pangasinan and to the country.
It also seeks to provide an inspiration to others, especially the youth, as the achievements and/or leadership skills of the awardees may be emulated by them.
The ASNA awardees are likened to an invaluable grain of salt connoting selfless and committed service to their fellow Pangasinense. Like the salt, in small quantity, it gives flavor and meaning to a dish; in bigger quantity, it preserves the food.
The awardees are epitome of goodness and honor, a trail-blazer, a shining example of life.
According to the ASNA search and awards secretariat, any person, public or private entity or organization may nominate a Pangasinense who excelled in the fields of government service, community service, arts and culture, medicine, agriculture and aquaculture, mass communications, business and entrepreneurship, law, education, science and technology and sports.
