AOAG CITY, Jan. 14 (PIA) — Twenty-four most wanted persons in Ilocos Norte were arrested by the provincial police office here for the period of January 2012 to January 2013.
According to Police Senior Superintendent Manolito C. Labador, officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Ilocos Norte Police Office, the arrests were completed through the joint efforts of the Ilocos Norte police and the Regional Intelligence Office in Region 1.
Recent apprehensions in Ilocos Norte included the arrest of the two most wanted persons who is wanted for murder in Laoag city and another criminal, also wanted for murder in Bangui, Ilocos Norte in December 2012.
Another apprehension by virtue of a warrant of arrest was also completed on January 11, 2013 and that of the criminal’s his co-conspirator; both were wanted for murder.
Labador, who is also the Deputy Regional Director for Operations (DRDO) of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1), said that through the cooperation of the community and the local police in their campaign for a SAFE 2013 (secure and fair elections), Ilocos Norte Police were able to complete the said operations.
He further said that the success of the series of arrests conducted in Ilocos Norte manifests the beginning of a stronger campaign against wanted persons in the whole Ilocos Region.
Labador assured the public that regional and local police will maintain strong presence and visibility in public areas as well as to strengthen the Police Beat System and optimizes the utilization of anti-crime actions.
Ilocos Norte is the sole province in Region 1 that was not included in the 15 priority watch list provinces for the upcoming 2013 elections.
However, Labador reminded the police to exert their best effort in serving and protecting the people not only because they are from the province but also for the welfare of the whole region. (ANL/CDG-PIA 1 Ilocos Norte)
