Pangasinense artistry shines in a talent show in Lingayen

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Jan 3 (PIA) — Barangay Libsong West here has staged the second season of Libsong West Got Talent, a competition that paved the way for locals from here and nearby areas to display their varied talents and creativity.

Harvie Aquino, event chairperson, said the competition was opened to all interested Pangasinenses to help in the promotion of local talents and also to welcome everybody in their fiesta celebration.

It also aimed to focus the youth on worthwhile activities than for them to engage in drugs and other vices, added Aquino.

Over 40 aspirants from various cities and municipalities joined the audition set last December 9, 2012. Only 16 finalists qualified and vied to win in the big night held on Saturday evening at the barangay’s auditorium.

During the finals, the participants did their best to outperform their fellow competitors. They exhibited remarkable talents in dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments that impressed the judges and the crowd.

After their performances, only three finalists were declared winners.

Jessel Lambino from Dagupan City sang her way to the top with P10, 000 cash prize; second placer is Denver Banate, a beatbox performer from Lingayen town, who won P7, 000. Jake Gomez, a singer from Mangaldan town, came third receiving P5, 000. Consolation prizes worth P500 each were given to non-winners.

The competition, derived from a talent show of a television station, started last year as one of the activities during the barangay’s fiesta celebration. Barangay officials plan to conduct the “Got Talent” annually to further highlight the artistry of Pangasinenses.
