SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Oct 20 (PIA) — Addressing the Association of Regional Executives (AREX) of Region 1, Nonnatus Caesar Rojas, director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) presented his leadership style that inspired his people to work and aim for excellence.
Rojas said that in his stint as the regional prosecutor of Region 1, he has to level down with his staff, winning their thrusts and confidence, and finds ways on how to move the people, especially those who were used to the old systems in a very diplomatic way yet powerful manner.
“As a leader, you have to think of ways on how a job should be done. In government, we are expected to work for the people, to give them the best services that we could offer and not for the people to serve and pleased us, and that’s what I did,” Rojas said.
He said an iron hand and a bossy style will never be effective to discipline employees, especially those hard-headed ones.
Instead, communicate with them as a person, level off with them, encourage and motivate them, and most, empower them thru trainings and other interpersonal activities that would boost their morale and spirit to work, he said.
“Attitude of an employee is very important. It is vital in ensuring the success of the organization. So, a manager must give values formation seminar to employees,” Rojas said.
For five consecutive years, Region 1’s Regional Prosecution Office was adjudged as the “Best Prosecution Office” in the Philippines.
“Our office may be small but we have done so much for the five consecutive years in my stint as the Regional Prosecutor of Region 1 before I was chosen and appointed as NBI director this year and I owed that recognition to the employees who worked sincerely and full commitment to public service,” Rojas said.
Rojas, as the guest of honor and speaker of the AREX’s Get Together and Induction of new members of the association on Thursday, left a note to the executives, “if you want success in your organization, value attitude, value your people.” (JCR-PIA1 La Union)
