SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Oct 19 (PIA) — Workers and students from the academe, public and private sectors are invited to join the fun run on October 26 here as kickoff activity for the 7th La Union Surfing Break, Michelle Bermudez of Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-La Union Chapter said.
She said proceeds from the fun run will be intended for the training of its beneficiaries specifically local surfers and community volunteers on first aid, basic life support-CPR and basic safety and rescue lifeguarding thru PRC.
“Through the funds that will be raised from the fun run, we can already help local surfers and volunteers to be trained on necessary lifesaving skills in order to ensure the safety of surfers and beachgoers,” PRC-La Union said.
The race is composed of two categories, 3K with a registration fee of P250 and 5K with a registration fee of P300. The 3K will start from San Juan town plaza to Urbiztondo Surfing Break area, while the 5K race will begin at the city plaza of San Fernando going to same Surfing Break area.
“Our registration is ongoing until October 20, however, we will still extend our deadline before said activity to accommodate more participants,” Bermudez said.
