PANGASINAN, Oct 19 (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment awarded P216,380 worth of livelihood checks to 47 farmers of Barangay Tumbar in Lingayen town as part of its Integrated Livelihood Program.
In a simple awarding ceremony at the governor’s office on October 16, DOLE Pangasinan field coordinator Roda Padua said the financial allotment has been granted to the farmers for the purchase of farm machinery and equipment program.
The program, in coordination with the provincial government, is intended to support sectoral groups, she added.
Some of the sectoral groups being funded by DOLE include the groups of women, persons with disabilities, farmers, fishers, and out-of-school youth to help them start their business and increase livelihood opportunities.
In a press statement of the Provincial Information Office, Gov. Amado Espino urged farmers to strive for the best in farming.
