SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Sept 29 (PIA) — The congressman of the first district of Ilocos Norte has asked the policemen of Ilocos Region to serve and protect the people in order to win their trust.
“In providing public service, always remember that the people are your king. Public trust can be earned only once, so you must take your theme by heart,” Ilocos Norte First District Congressman Rodolfo V. Fariñas said during the celebration of the 111th Philippine National Police Anniversary on September 22.
Fariñas, the guest speaker during the event held at the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO-1) Grandstand in Camp Brigadier General Oscar Florendo urged the PRO-1 policemen to live up with what the theme “Pulis Niyo Po sa Tuwid na Daan, Serbisyong May Pagkukusa, Maaasahan (Your policemen traversing the right path, with voluntary service, you can depend on).”
“In a democratic society, the king is the people. Just like what President Aquino says in almost all of his speeches, ‘kayo po ang boss ko (you all are my boss),’ which reminds every public servant or government employee to always work with sincerity,” Fariñas said.
He encouraged all the men and women in uniform of the PRO1 to perform their oath responsibly and work with integrity, loyalty and efficiency.
“Maaasahan ang pulisya kung ginagawa ng bawat kasapi nito ang wasto at mahusay na paglilingkod sa mamamayang Pilipino (The PNP is reliable if all its units and personnel are providing their rightful and efficient service to the Filipino people) and this is the purpose of awarding our deserving officers and units to show role models worthy of emulation,” he added.
Sometimes the problem is the good ones allow “bad eggs” in their team, he said.
Fariñas urged the police personnel of Region 1 to continue the “daang matuwid (straight path)” and encouraged every sector of the community to continue working together in solid partnership to keep Region 1 peaceful and progressive.
He also thanked the men and women of PRO-1 not only for making the region a safe place to live in, but also for bringing pride and honor to the whole Region 1. (ANL/MPA-PIA1 La Union)
