SINAIT, Ilocos Sur, Sept 13 (PIA) — Two tremors hit Northern Luzon early this morning, Thursday but no recorded intensity in the affected areas, a report from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) based here said.
Phivolcs Researcher Porferio De Peralta said the two quakes did not cause any damage to property as these were most likely not felt by local residents in the affected areas.
He said the first quake has a 4.1 magnitude happened at 12:28 a.m. with epicenter 62 kilometers northwest of Sabtang, Batanes Province with a depth of 37 kilometers.
The second tremor was a 3.5 magnitude occurred at 2:43 a.m. with epicenter traced at 10 kilometers northwest of Vigan City, Ilocos Sur and with a depth of 16 kilometers.
He said the quakes were both tectonic in origin, however, there’s no aftershock to be expected.
Earlier, he said a 4.0 magnitude tremor occurred in Ilocos Sur 1:04 a.m. last Wednesday with epicenter at 73 kilometers northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur with a depth of 18 kilometers. (ANL/FGL-PIA 1 Ilocos Sur)
