Property data banking opens door for tourism investment in R1

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Sept 13 (PIA) — To help boost tourism investment in Region 1, the Department of Tourism 1 (DOT-1) will be holding a symposium on Property Data Banking for Tourism Investment on September 14 in Bauang town.

It is aimed at determining and validating properties to be included in the data bank that will be ready for offerings to prospective investors, Tourism Operation Officer Gay Marie A. Gapas of DOT 1 said.

Gapas said the program is part of the annual celebration of the National Tourism Week on September 21 to 27 with the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development.”

An overview of the investment-related laws and incentives will be discussed during the day in response to Republic Act 9593 or Tourism Act of 2009, and this will start with the presentation of the Property Information Questionnaire to enlighten the participants on the purpose and the output of the activity, she said.

Gapas said the personnel from the Office of Tourism Standards and Regulations-Investment Promotion Group from DOT main office were invited to tackle said agendas/topic.

Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry is set for a presentation of an investment proposal on said day.

Participants who requested for the symposium here include real estate owners, businessmen and investment officers to be appraised about investment procedures, incentives and opportunities that would boost the region’s potential in generating investments in tourism related projects.

As of yesterday, September 11, about forty individuals had already confirmed their attendance while others are still on follow up, she said. (ANL/MHH-PIA 1 La Union with reports from DOT1)
