LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Aug 4 (PIA) — A province-wide poster and slogan making contest for students was held in Pangasinan to increase consumption of vegetables as part of a healthy diet for people of all ages.
The contest, which was held on July 31 at the Capitol Resort Hotel, is in observance of the 38th Nutrition Month.
Milagros Gutierrez, nutritionist-dietician said, “This year, it is very timely that the celebration put emphasis on the importance of healthy and balanced diet including vegetables in daily meals not only for children but also for adults.”
The winners of the competition are Ahden Ganaganag, first place from Umanday Elementary School in Bugallon town; John Norman Rodriguez, second place from Anda Elementary School in the town of Anda; and Jonathan Mark Somera, third place from East Central Elementary School in San Fabian town.
Tied at fourth place are John Rodolph Cerdan from Mangaldan Integrated School in Mangaldan town and Richard Sison, Jr. from Lobong Elementary School in the town of San Jacinto. Sharin Verzola from Sual Central School in Sual town won as sixth place.
Winners received medals, certificates and cash prizes. The first placer won P3,000; second placer, P2,000; third placer, P1,500 and the fourth to sixth placers got P1,000 each.
The annual nutrition month creates greater awareness among Filipinos on the value of good nutrition.
This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Pagkain ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw-Araw Itong Ihain.” (JCR/AMM-PIA1 Pangasinan with reports from PIO)
