LAOAG CITY, July 17 (PIA) — The provincial government of Ilocos Norte and the International Business Machine (IBM) – Global Process Services spearheaded a five-day job fair for aspiring call center agents here.
“The IBM is set to hire 75 call center agents to be deployed in different call center companies in Metro Manila,” Eric L. Pascua of the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) said.
The International Business Machines is a company that provides integrated solutions that leverage information technology and knowledge of business processes.
The job fair in the province is the company’s pilot project “Integrated Module on Process and communications Training,” where call center agents are directly hired from provinces.
Pascua said hiring of call center agents before was conducted by usual recruitment groups and expressed luck in that IBM chose Ilocos Norte to pilot their project.
“With this project, local call center agent aspirants, get to be hired directly, so the effort and hustle of going to the big city (Manila) is lessened,” Pascua added.
He also said IBM chose Ilocos Norte because they believe that there are untapped talents of Ilocanos capable of serving big companies in Metro Manila.
Applicants who will be hired from the fair will be given free training for a month at the “Takuat Training Center,” an Ilocos-based training center equipped with modern speech facilities for good communication skills.
For interested applicants, time and venues are July 16, 17, 19, and 20 at the La Tabacalera Function Hall, 2nd floor La Tabacalera Lifestyle Center, Laoag City from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. While on July 18, it will be held at Ground Floor CAP building, F.R. Castro avenue corner Balintawak Street, Laoag City at 9 a.m. to 6 p.m..
The job fair started yesterday and will last until July 20.
Interested applicants must be a four-year degree holder of any course, with at least good communication skills in English. (ANL/CDG-PIA 1 Ilocos Norte)
