DOST invites the public to its science and technology fair in IN

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, July 12 (PIA) — The Department of Science and Technology 1 (DOST-1) is inviting everyone to join the ‘Northern Luzon Cluster Science and Technology Fair’ (NLCSTF) slated on July 30 to August 3 at Teatro Ilocandia, Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Batac City in Ilocos Norte.

DOST-1 Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program Coordinator Racquel M. Espiritu said the fair aims to promote the agency’s thrusts to provide comprehensive technology-based productivity solutions to small and medium enterprises as well as solve national pressing problems and instill science and technology culture among the people in Northern Luzon.

“We chose MMSU as the venue for the 2012 NLCSTF because it is the only place which can accommodate the various activities of the fair to include: technology exhibits, technology bazars, technology fora and press conference, all at the same time,” Espiritu explained.

The Science Interactive Exhibits will be the highlight of the weeklong fair in order to stimulate the curious minds of our young science enthusiasts, Espiritu said.

According to DOST 1, the Pagasa Mobile Planetarium and DOST-Science Education Insitute Science Explorer will be featuring the interactive exhibits on said days to elementary and secondary students in order to experience the fun and excitement of learning science outside their school.

To manage these students who are waiting for their turn, science and technology related films will be shown since, the mobile planetarium can only accommodate 35 individuals, she further said.

Interested parties may call DOST at (072) 888-3399 or email at dostro1@dost.gov.ph for confirmation and additional information.

The activity is in response to the 2012 National Science and Technology Week celebration this month with the theme “Science, Technology and Innovation: Working Together for Growth and Development”. (ANL/MHH-PIA1 La Union with reports from DOST)
