IGAN CITY, July 10 (PIA) — Submission of entries for this prestigious agricultural journalism contest nationwide is still open, the secretariat of the 6th Bright Leaf Awards announced last Friday here.
According to Maria Theresa O. Cuisia of the Cozoz Incorporation, the submission of entries is until August 31, 2012.
The Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Awards started in 2007. It is the premier annual nationwide competition that seeks out the most important agricultural pieces of our time and honors the journalists behind them.
It is a competition for print stories, radio segments, television features, and photographs that have promoted and/or created awareness on the most current agricultural issues and the best farming practices on environmental care, safety, and crop sustainability.
The Bright Leaf Awards affirms its commitment of providing the agricultural industry a voice. Every year, Bright Leaf honors the best print features, radio pieces, video stories, and photographs that chronicle and capture the agricultural landscape of the times, she said.
She believes that recognizing journalistic excellence in this important field contributes to raising awareness and support for the hands that feed and fuel the nation.
The categories for this year’s Bright Leaf Awards competition include Agriculture Story of the Year, Tobacco Story of the Year, Best Television Program or Segment, Best Radio Program or Segment, Agriculture Photo of the Year, Tobacco Photo of the Year, Best Regional News Story, Best National News Story, Best Regional Features Story, Best National Features Story, and a special Oriental Leaf Award – a fresh new category that honors Bright Leaf’s constant contributors and winners through the years.
Cuisia explained that entries to be submitted should be those that are published, aired, or broadcasted nationally or locally from September 1, 2011 until August 31, 2012.
