DAGUPAN CITY, June 22 (PIA) — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported that its power transmission services remained normal despite the 6.0 magnitude earthquake that rocked Candelaria, Zambales and other parts of north Luzon last Sunday.
Lilibeth P. Gaydowen, North Luzon Corporate Communications Officer said the grid remained intact as there had been no reported cases of power interruptions and damaged transmission facilities.
Gaydowen said NGCP’s Integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP), continuously implements the necessary preparations and precautions to ensure the readiness of all power transmission facilities expected to be affected by disasters like earthquakes, typhoons, floods, landslides, tsunami, volcanic eruptions, and fire emergencies.
The tectonic quake that occurred at 6:18 a.m. last June 17 with epicenter at 80 kilometers south of Candelaria, Zambales. It registered an intensity 6 magnitude. Intensity 6 was felt in Dagupan City, Bugallon, Villasis, and Bolinao in Pangasinan, while intensity 3 registered in Pampanga, La Union, and the cities of Pasay, Taguig, and Quezon.
