DOLE settles SENA complaint in just 1 day

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, June 6 (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-1) through its field office in Central Pangasinan was able to settle recently a Single Entry Approach or SENA complaint by workers against a company based in Pangasinan in just one day.

The said complaint is an administrative approach to provide a speedy, impartial, inexpensive, and accessible settlement procedure of all labor issues or conflicts to prevent it from becoming a full blown case. The aim of the department is to facilitate speedy labor justice and to promote industrial peace, DOLE-1 Director Grace Y. Ursua said.

According to DOLE 1, 31 workers filed a complaint against SD Human Tech. Corporation. Their request from DOLE was for claims regarding their separation pay as well as their 13th month pay amounting to P464, 942.85.

Single Entry Assistance Desk Officer Emmanuel H. Hagad led the review of the merits of the request and hearing from both parties in the same day for agreeable settlement.

As a result of the dialogue, Wealthie de Guzman, Sales Coordinator of SD Human Tech Corporation facilitated the immediate release of the claims of the terminated workers on the same day.

All employees received their individual checks. However, the amount of money they got depended on the position they held, Jeri Dee Orate, DOLE 1 Labor Communication Officer explained. (ANL/MHH-PIA 1,. La Union with reports from DOLE 1)
