Thousands of jobs await applicants at Ilocos Norte provincial job fair

LAOAG CITY, May 25 (PIA) — An estimated 4,000 jobs await qualified applicants in the Ilocos Norte Provincial Job Fair.

According to Eric Pascua of the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the positions available are for local and overseas employment. There are jobs for baccalaureate degree holders as well as for vocational, technical and high school graduates.

“There are seven overseas employment recruitment agencies participating in the job fair. The conservative estimate for job orders is at least 2,000 mostly in the Middle East,” Pascua said.

Some of the job orders for abroad are for blue collar skilled workers such as heavy equipment drivers, welders, pipe fitters, nurse assistants, electricians, electrical engineers, fabricators, cooks, among others.

For local employment, Pascua continued, there are more than 2,000 job vacancies offered by 33 local firms, two of which are Manila-based and most of the vacancies are for employment in Ilocos Norte and the rest are in Manila.

Some of the jobs available are for call center agents, sales agents, IT professionals, administration, finance and accounting personnel, and many others.

The job fair is a joint undertaking of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte under Governor Imee Marcos and ABS-CBN.

Applicants must bring their comprehensive resume and other other credentials at the Centennial Arena in Laoag City, Pascua said.
The job fair will be on May 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

There will be representatives of participating government agencies at the Job Fair like the Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. They will help process the papers of the applicants,” Pascua said. (ANL/CPC-PIA 1, Ilocos Norte)
