The month-long celebration will be spearheaded by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) bannering the theme, “Kawani, Ikaw ay Isang Lingkod Bayani.”
In Memorandum Circular No. 8 series of 2012, CSC chairman Francisco Duque III enjoins all government agencies to participate in the celebration that aims to promote, showcase, and celebrate heroism in public service as well as highlight stories of triumph and sacrifice among the men and women in government service.
A Fun Run dubbed, “Race to Serve II” will officially commence the 2012 celebration on September 8 at the Quirino Grandstand and is open to all Filipino government employees and private individuals.
Aspiring writers can win a prize in the Essay Writing Contest with the theme, ‘Lingkod Bayani: Working for Gender Responsive, Accessible, Courteous and Effective Public Service.” Submission of entries is from June 18 to September 3.
A photography contest dubbed, “Give It Your Best Shot” is also open to government employees regardless of appointment status. It is designed to promote the Lingkod Bayani concept among civil servants by capturing through photographs the essence of public service at its best. Deadline for submission is on July 19.
To advocate Filipino culture and the arts, CSC will again hold the Government Choral Competition on September 17. Each choral should have 20-30 members who are government employees.
As a bonus treat, CSC will be partnering once again with government agencies and private companies to provide special treats for employees such as free rides in public transportation and discounts in department stores.
One of the highlights of the month-long celebration is the Honor Awards Program (HAP) Rites for the 2012 Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Dangal ng Bayan and PAGASA awards.
The awards rite serves as the culmination of the search for outstanding public officials and employees. The awards, as provided by law are conferred by the President of the Republic of the Philippines. (ANL/VHS-PIA 1, Pangasinan)
