SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, May 16 (PIA) — The Department of Education (DepEd) will start its Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) for school year 2012 to 2013 on May 28 to June 8 pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 83 series 2012, to ensure smooth opening of classes on June 4.
Anastacio P. Domingo Jr., Secondary Education Supervisor of DepEd-1 said that as part of said activity, they are now currently working through series of activities like visiting of households to assure that children will attend the first day of classes.
“We will be preparing a week before the end of May to clean classrooms, surroundings and undertake some minor repair on chairs and tables” where parents or member of the community near schools will be involved.
Seminar for both grade 1 and grade 7 teachers, were conducted at different venues region-wide which started this month of May until June 2 in order to make sure that those teachers are ready and equipped with the necessary skills and competencies to implement the K to 12 program as initiated by the administration of President Benigno Aquino III, Domingo added.
The seminar is funded by the DepEd with the provision of board and lodging for the teachers and materials to use except traveling expenses, Domingo said.
This year’s OBE is in partnership with the Department of Health, Philippine National Police, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Interior and Local Government and other agencies. (ANL/MHH-PIA 1 La Union with reports from DepEd)
