LAOAG CITY, May 10 (PIA) — A state-run medical center in Batac City in Ilocos Norte will hold its first-ever fun run to benefit indigent patients.
Dr. Ma. Lourdes Otayza, medical director of the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, said proceeds of the “Fun Run for A Cause 2012” will be donated to the Salun-at Foundation to give financial assistance to indigent patients and to assist the medical center in the maintenance and operation of health and medical services; the training and education of hospital staff; and for research programs.
The Salun-at Foundation is a non-stock, non-profit corporation.
Registration fee is P250 for the 3K and 5K distance, and P300 for the 10K.
Physical Therapist Chard Nalundasan said this is also to promote good health, particularly for cardiovascular endurance.
The Fun Run will be held on May 12. Assembly time is at 4:30 a.m. at the Imelda Cultural Center in Batac City.
The MMMH and MC recently opened its new world-class OPD building, Pharmacy building, and the first oxygen-generating plant in a hospital setting in the country.
In the latest assessment done some two years ago, it was adjudged as the second-best Department of Health hospital in the country. (ANL/CPC-PIA 1, Ilocos Norte)
